Best settings for close up photos in variety of light settings for Lumix DMC-FZ300

I take thousands of photos of horses hooves mostly at ground level. I had an older lumix - pretty much point and click on auto setting and it was okay and replaced it with a DMC-FZ300, which is fancier and I'm struggling to get to grips with all the settings, despite reading the manual. Can anyone advise on settings to take photos in light and dark conditions please - around 2 feet from the subject - a horses hoof - all angles. I need a detailed photo and they are sometimes hard to keep very still! Thank you x

That is an interesting question I would say it takes a lot of experience and trials to get to this point. For fast work, I use the Unscripted app it has a couple of setting guides I tweak as I like when I am taking pictures using this template.
